Richfield bringing back Independence Day events

After a five-year absence, Richfield is bringing back its Fourth of July celebrations and kicking them off on July 3. Thanks to an anonymous donor, they had the funds to put on this event, one the community has been asking for. Massive construction project underway on I-494

Work began Tuesday on a years-long construction project along I-494 in the south metro. To start, for the next month, there will be nightly lane closures along I-494 in Bloomington and Richfield between Highway 77 running west to East Bush Lake Road. The closures will happen between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night.

Flock sitting service lets backyard chicken owners fly the coop

The Richfield couple started their own flock-sitting service after they had a hard time finding someone to take care of their ducks when they were out of town. With more people in urban areas of the Twin Cities owning their own chickens, they figured they were not alone.
