Flooding isn’t bad news for everyone along the water’s edge. Some businesses are underwater, but others are benefiting from the overflowing rivers.

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash near Howard Lake Tuesday morning. 

The City of Monticello learned about elevated levels of tritium near the Xcel Energy nuclear plant three months earlier than city officials have acknowledged publicly, according to emails obtained from a public records request.

Xcel Energy announced a temperature-related “fish kill" in the Mississippi River caused by the temporary shutdown of its Monticello nuclear power plant to fix a radioactive water leak.

In November, Xcel Energy's nuclear plant in Monticello leaked 400,000 gallons of water containing Tritium, a radioactive by-product, but the utility only told the public last week.

The City of Minneapolis is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) on a plan in the event the tritium leak from the Xcel Energy nuclear plant in Monticello makes its way into the Mississippi River, which is the source of the city's drinking water. 

Xcel Energy announced its plan to take the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant offline to make permanent repairs after two tritium water leaks were reported.

Xcel Energy is working to power down the Monticello nuclear power plant on Friday to make repairs after a new leak of radioactive water was reported this week.

Federal regulators doubled down on the public notification process, following a leak at the Monticello power plant in November.

According to charges filed on Monday, the dog, an 8-month-old border collie, was discovered shot along a rural road in Otsego last week. The dog's owner said a dog of its pedigree would be worth $5,000 and the owner said he had invested another $5K in training.
