Eli Hart's mother Julissa Thaler has been found guilty on a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of her 6-year-old son on May 20, 2022.

Testimony in the first-degree murder trial of Julissa Thaler, the mother accused of killing her son, 6-year-old Eli Hart, began Friday, with Eli's father taking the stand.

The attorney for a mom accused of killing her son, Eli Hart, is seeking to have her statements to investigators suppressed. 

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a body was pulled from Lafayette Bay Monday, as law enforcement work to identify the individual.

Prosecutors have offered the mother accused of killing her 6-year-old son and hiding his body in the trunk of a car a deal to plead guilty to second-degree murder. 

After being stopped by Orono police last Friday, Julissa Thaler said the blood on her face and hands was from her menstruation and the tissue in her car was deer meat. Police released her from the scene and drove her home, later finding the body of her 6-year-old son, Eli Hart, in the trunk of her car.

The mom of a 6-year-old boy who was found fatally shot in the trunk of the car she was driving in Mound on Friday has now been charged with murder, accused of shooting him up to nine times in the car with a shotgun.

Family members identified the boy to Fox 9 as six-year-old Eli Hart. They have started a GoFundMe to help pay for the child's funeral expenses.
