Minneapolis teachers are becoming increasingly concerned over the rise of COVID-19 cases throughout their district.

On Tuesday, the union representing teachers and staff in Minneapolis Public Schools will call for better plans to deal with the rising surge of COVID-19 cases that has left kids at home and teachers stretched thin.

Principals at the Minneapolis high schools sent out a joint message, warning families to be more cautious as violent crime rises in the city.

The Minneapolis and Roseville school districts are now requiring staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19 or face regular COVID-19 testing.

Sheridan School in Minneapolis is closed Friday after a break-in in overnight.

Under the resolution up for consideration, teachers, staff, volunteers, and contractors who work directly with students would be required to either get vaccinated or undergo regular testing.

While Minneapolis Public Schools was able to deal with the shortage of bus drivers it is facing for the start of classes, things didn't go as smoothly in Robbinsdale.
