The son of a Wayzata, Minnesota police officer killed in the line of duty last fall got a “super” surprise Thursday morning.

Members of a special program called “Minnesota Wills for Heroes” and the state’s Law Enforcement Memorial Association surprised 7-year-old Wyatt Mathews and his mom Shawn with four tickets to Sunday’s Super Bowl game.

Wyatt’s dad, Officer Bill Mathews, died in September after he was struck by an impaired driver while clearing debris from Highway 12.

“We keep on living because if we don’t keep on living, life is going to pass us by,” Shawn said. “We’re still grieving tremendously. We miss Bill every day. But, we have to keep on living.”

Wyatt and his mom are a house divided, however. He is a New England Patriots fan who loves Tom Brady while his mom is pulling for the underdogs, the Philadelphia Eagles.
