Plane diverted to MSP after man tries to open door during flight

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) - A plane had to emergency land at Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport, after a man tried to open a door on the plane, according to Alaska Airlines officials.
On Monday morning, the Alaska Airlines flight took off from JFK International in New York and was on its way to Seattle, Washington when the passenger attempted to open the rear door.
The plane diverted to MSP and arrived at the gate at about 9:45 a.m. When officers boarded the plane at the gate, the man was restrained in the rear of the plane due to his "erratic behavior," according to an MSP spokeswoman.
Police took the man off the plane and determined he was a medical danger to himself. Emergency crews took him to Fairview Southdale Hospital.
An Alaska Airlines official says it is impossible to open the door, while the plane is pressurized and in flight.
The plane departed from MSP and completed its journey to Seattle with 180 passengers on board.
The FBI took over investigation.
