Minnesotans voting early in record numbers

Minnesotans continue to vote early and in record numbers. Statewide, absentee ballots have been accepted at a rate doubling the 2012 election.

At the elections center Ramsey County, in-person early voting on Thursday beat the previous record set in 2008. And then Thursday’s record was smashed on Friday — and Friday’s record was smashed on Saturday.

In Hennepin County, 173,000 absentee ballots have been completed and received, doubling the previous record.

Minnesota’s record voting turnout was the recent subject of a New York Times article, which noted the state allows early in-person voting, early mail voting, and same-day registration.
