Blaine students bring bullying to the stage

Students in Blaine are bringing bullying to the stage at Roosevelt Middle School.

They’re doing their part to end bullying and increase acceptance in a new theater production called “The Bullying Collection.”

It’s not your typical school play.

“It’s nine short 10-minute plays that all revolve around the central theme of bullying,” Shanan Edelheit, the director of the theater program said.

Students said they’re eager to participate in the play because it will help spread awareness among students and show them that there are ways to stop the bullying.

“I’ve found the strength in myself – that I can stop bullying,” Huy Tran, a senior acting in the play said.

The goal of the production is to start a conversation about bullying, Edelheit said.

Guidance counselors have created educational resources that go along with the show. The school is hoping that parents will use the resources as a platform for having important conversations about bullying with their children.

“The Bullying Collection” will be presented this week at Roosevelt Middle School in Blaine. Productions are at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
