Auto repair shop offering free tail light bulb replacements

Unity Autoworks offered free tail light and license plate light replacement at Rondo Days in St. Paul.

Co-owner and certified master auto technician Brandon Jefferson told Fox 9 he came up with the idea with his wife after learning about the recent shootings across the nation.

"I thought this is the best way to give back and give an immediate impact," said Jefferson.

As of about 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jefferson said he had replaced 41 light bulbs for about 30 cars. Jefferson said he plans to extend the gesture beyond Rondo Days to meet the need of people in the community.

"Replacing a tail light is just a way to avoid unnecessary traffic stops and put people to ease," said Jefferson. "Even if a light bulb can avoid a bad situation, we want to help in any way we can."
