Twin Cities snow season comes up short

KMSP Minneapolis, MN - During an El Nino year the temperatures are usually warmer than average and the snowfall is harder to find. The 2015-2016 winter season is wrapping up and chances are slim that we will see any more flakes. Keep in mind that this is Minnesota and slim does not mean none when it comes to snow.

So, how did we do? When it comes to snow, the metro accumulates four and a half feet during an average winter season. The 2015-2016 winter season came in with a total of just over 3 feet, which is about a third below average. Our snowiest storm was back in February when 9.7" fell between the 2nd to the 4th.

It may not be over yet when it comes to dodging the flakes in the metro. In fact, we have seen the flakes fly as late as late May.
