Twin Cities latest snowfalls

It was an unsettling sight for most of us to wake up to big fat flakes in April. However, snow this late is not unusual, especially here in the Upper Midwest. The flakes added up to enough to make a graphic of snow totals, with most of the accumulations favoring western and northwestern parts of the metro.

The Twin Cities has seen snow as late as late May and Northern Minnesota has seen snow in June. The average date for the metro's last measurable inch of the season is March 31st.

April is a month that can see some some, in fact, 2.5" is the average amount we can expect for the 4th month of the year!

I wouldn't put the snow shovel away just yet, but I'm sure it will get limited use as we wrap up winter 2015-2016.
