Four Gophers football players returned to practice Tuesday after the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office declined to file any charges against the players in an alleged assault case.

In a press conference, head coach Tracy Claeys said the suspended players would return to practice. It’s unclear if any of them will play in Saturday’s game against Iowa.

On Monday, the county attorney’s office said it was declining to file any charges because of insufficient, admissible evidence for prosecutors to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that either force was used or that the victim was physically helpless as defined by law in the sexual encounter.

None of the players were arrested in connection to the alleged assault.
