3 Gophers basketball players suspended after alleged Twitter sex videos

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Three players on the University of Minnesota men’s basketball team who "violated team rules" were barred from playing Sunday's, and amid rumors of a sex video posted to Twitter, the athletics department maintained Monday they cannot explain why.

The team announced Sunday that Gophers leading scorer Nate Mason and freshmen Kevin Dorsey and Dupree McBrayer wouldn't play ahead of Sunday's 84-71 loss to Illinois, but did not disclose the details of their suspension.

According to Deadspin, Dorsey posted two videos to his Twitter account on Friday evening and deleted them 30 minutes later, then Dorsey deleted his account. The videos allegedly show Dorsey, another man and a woman engaged in a sex act.

The University of Minnesota Police Department and Minneapolis Police Department confirmed they are not investigating.

“With the privilege of being a member of the University of Minnesota basketball program there are expectations and standards to which we hold our student-athletes accountable, and they have failed to do so,” head coach Richard Pitino said.
