Words of advice from 4-year-old preschool students

The Mayor's Office of New York City has shared a video of some preschool students offering their words of wisdom to future 4-year-olds. The youngsters also attempt to set the expectations of future students, should their parents decide to enroll them in the program.

According to one source, there are no monsters. This adorable video also reminds parents that "pre-K lets children develop strong math and reading skills early on."

In Minnesota, Gov. Mark Dayton desperately wanted money in this session's education budget for universal preschool for 4-year-olds. In the end, he reluctantly set it aside in the spirit of compromise.

The new agreement gives the Minnesota Department of Education an additional $125 million on top of the $400 million increase already in the new budget. Staffers are now working out the details how to spend the extra money, but some of it will go toward raising the per-pupil school aid formula by 2 percent in each of the next 2 years.
