Ward 6 election results unchanged after recount
Minneapolis City Council member Abdi Warsame won re-election to Ward 6, defeating candidate Mohamud Noor.
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Minneapolis officials will confirm current council member Abdi Warsame as the winner of the Ward 6 race for city council Friday.
Mohamud Noor's campaign withdrew their contest of the election results after a recount on Tuesday. Noor filed a formal request for a recount earlier this month after Warsame was re-elected with 3,629 votes to Noor’s 3,390 votes.
The canvassing board will meet at 9 a.m. on Friday to certify the results for Ward 6.
