Safe return for missing toddler, puppy in Spicer, Minnesota

A 1 1/2-year-old boy and his puppy were quickly reunited with their parents Tuesday morning after wandering a quarter-mile from their home in Spicer, Minnesota. According to the Kandiyohi County sheriff’s office, the boy and puppy were reported missing at 9:35 p.m. and reunited with their parents in about 20 minutes, thanks to the help of neighbors.

According to the sheriff, the boy’s mother was hauling items from the house to the car when the boy wandered off with the puppy.

The boy walked approximately a quarter-mile away to another home that also had a dog. The 78-year-old homeowner at that house heard her dog barking and called out to the boy, but he walked away toward a wooded area.

The homeowner followed the boy and the puppy until she was able to flag down police and other neighbors who had joined the search. They were found about 50 yards away from a wetland area, unharmed.
