MINDEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) - One man was injured after his fan-powered, parachute-style aircraft crashed into a tree near St. Cloud, Minnesota Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred after the aircraft lifted off from a private property in Minden Township, but did not gain enough altitude to avoid colliding with a tree, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the scene around 6 p.m. When they arrived, they found the aircraft suspended in a tree about 50 feet in the air. The pilot, a 71-year-old Sauk Rapids man, was still inside.
Firefighters helped get the pilot out of the aircraft and bring him to the ground. He was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
