One person dead in officer-involved shooting in St. Paul

An officer-involved shooting left one person dead in St. Paul on Thursday around 2:15 p.m.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were working on an investigation on the 2100 block of Minnehaha Ave. E. when they encountered an adult male inside a bedroom of the residence.

"Preliminary information indicates that the male fired at officers," the police department said in a press release. "An officer or officers then returned fire, striking the male. Saint Paul fire medics responded to the scene and pronounced him dead without transport to a hospital."

No officers were injured in the incident. The officers involved will be placed on standard administrative leave.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is investigating the incident, and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner is working to confirm the man’s identity and exact cause of death.
