NFL wins appeal of off-duty cops' guns at Vikings games
MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - The Minnesota Court of Appeals has reversed a ruling that the NFL must allow off-duty police officers to carry guns at Minnesota Vikings games. The decision said the district court’s applying of the Minnesota Citizens’ Personal Protection Act of 2003 was wrong in this case, but other laws may still prohibit a ban.
“Our decision today should not be construed as holding that appellants have the right to exclude from Minnesota stadiums off-duty peace officers who are carrying firearms,” the court’s ruling said. “We merely hold that any such right is not governed by the PPA. Other provisions of state or federal law may apply.”
The case will return to district court.
