Minnesotans raise record $20.6 million on Give to the Max Day

Minnesotans donated a record $20.6 million to nonprofits and schools across the state on Give to the Max Day Thursday.

The annual event, run by GiveMN, challenges nearly 5,400 organizations to raise the most money they can in a 24-hour period.

The day’s total was approximately half a million dollars higher than the previous record, set in 2016, according to a news release. Donations were made from all 87 Minnesota counties, all 50 states and nearly 50 countries around the world.

Second Harvest Heartland, Gilda’s Club Twin Cities, Newman Catholic Campus Ministries at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Nathan Hale PTA and Augsburg College raised the most money.

This was the ninth year of the event.
