Minnesota ranks No. 2 as best state to raise a family

Minnesota, once again, has landed near the top in another internet ranking.

This time, we're No. 2 in WalletHub's study of best states to raise a family--just slightly behind Massachusets.

The website looked at things like median salaries, crime rates, what percentage of the population also has kids, and the cost of everything from child care to housing. Minnesota came home with the title for highest family salary, and though Gov. Mark Dayton is proud to rank so highly he says that, at least in his opinion, Minnesota is simply the best.

“Minnesota’s great schools, excellent quality of life, and good work opportunities are some of the reasons why we have been rated the second best state for families,” Dayton said in a statement. “But the report got one thing wrong: no other state holds a candle to Minnesota!”
