Large crowd gathers for prayer program 10 days after Barway Collins goes missing

CRYSTAL (KMSP) - Saturday marked ten days since 10-year-old Barway Collins went missing.

A group of 20 people at Cedarwood Apartments in Crystal started their morning with intentions to search for Barway.

But organizers canceled the event at the last minute.

Those eager to help find Barway were disappointed to learn that Barway's father, Pierre, was in bed and did not come out to address them or search for the 10-year-old.

"We can't just sit here and say bring Barway home, when we can't fill in the puzzle and that puzzle lies with the friends, and the family," said a resident who attended the event.

A large crowd also gathered for a prayer program just after 12 p.m.

Barway's parents stood next to the podium.

Emotions ran high, particularly those of Yamah Collins, Barway's stepmother who began somewhat of a prayer chant.

"Send the holy ghost fire, send it allah," chanted Yamah Collins.

A new "uncle" also took the podium.

"There's possibility he can be found," said Terma Collins.

Just over a week ago, Pierre Collins told Fox 9 that Barway's only uncle was Ralph Smith.

But on Saturday, Pierre had no words for us, and few were the answers from those speaking on his behalf.

Pierre remains a suspect in Barway's disappearance.

Sources have also told Fox 9 that Pierre took a $30,000 life insurance policy out on Barway last month.

Fox 9 asked Pierre Collins why, but he had no response to our question, however, Crystal Police said it is a matter they are looking into.
