Gov. Dayton's press secretary to work for Pres. Obama

Matt Swenson, press secretary for Gov. Mark Dayton, will be leaving Minnesota for 5 months to serve in the President Obama’s office through the end of his presidential term.

“ I have been invited to serve in the Executive Office of the President until the conclusion of President Obama’s term in office (Jan. 20th), and will return to Minnesota to resume my duties as press secretary for Governor Dayton and Lt. Governor Smith at the beginning of the 2017 Legislative Session,” Swenson said in an email to the Minnesota media.

Swenson is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus and the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He’s previously held positions with the Minnesota House, the gubernatorial campaign of Margaret Anderson Kelliher and the Minnesota Department of commerce.
