Democratic leaders warn against Trump at Minnesota convention

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - At the DFL state convention in Minneapolis, divided participants seemed united against at least one person: presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
At the one-day convention, DFL leaders voiced concern to the party activists that divisions among Democrats could hurt the party in the November elections.
When Gov. Mark Dayton said he will support Hillary Clinton for president, he was interrupted briefly with chants from Sen. Bernie Sanders supporters. The Star Tribune reported Dayton told Sanders' supporters that he admires their passion and support of the candidate.
Sanders won Minnesota's caucuses in March.
DFL State Party Chair Ken Martin told attendees that a Trump presidency would endanger Democrats' achievements.
The state convention will focus on electing delegates to the Democratic National Convention, since no statewide offices are on the ballot this year.
