Boaters move large bog on Shields Lake in Rice Co., Minn.

SHIELDSVILLE, Minn. (FOX 9) - Boaters worked Saturday evening to move a large bog to shore on a lake south of the Twin Cities Metro.

Sarah Hutter, who was among the people working to move the bog on Shields Lake in Rice County, says she estimates the bog was about the size of three football fields.

Hutter says around 20 to 25 boaters who live in or own cabins along the lake came out to help push the bog to bay Saturday evening.

According to Hutter, it was the second-largest bog they've moved Saturday. She says bog have become a problem in recent years as the lake's water level has fluctuated.
