Amazon expanding 30-minute delivery to several cities - See where

Amazon just launched a new, ultrafast shipping program in some U.S. cities called Amazon Now.

Amazon rolled out a new rapid 30-minute delivery service called Amazon Now. It’s the fastest shipping option yet for the retail giant. 

Which cities? 

Local perspective:

Amazon Now is widely available in the following cities: 

• Atlanta
• Dallas-Fort Worth
• Philadelphia
• Seattle

Expansion in dozens of cities is underway in locations such as Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver and Oklahoma City. 

How it works:

To deliver in minutes, Amazon says it uses a network of smaller locations designed for efficient order fulfillment, strategically placed close to where customers live and work.

How much does it cost? 

By the numbers:

To get an order delivered in 30 minutes: 

• $3.99 delivery fee (Prime members) 
• $13.99 delivery fee (non-members) 

For orders below $15, a small-order fee will apply: 

• $1.99 small order fee (Prime members) 
• $3.99 small order fee (non-members) 

A Prime membership costs $14.99 monthly or $139 annually.

Amazon Now's selection focuses on the items customers need most urgently, Amazon said. 

Customers can shop by category, including dairy and eggs, fresh produce, bakery, health, baby, pet, personal care, electronics, and alcohol where permitted.

Amazon recently rolled out 1-hour and 3-hour deliveries as well, and uses drone delivery in some locations across the U.S. Same-day delivery is also available in 10,000 cities and towns across the country.
