A fast-moving storm in Minneapolis left three people stuck in a large water drain at a Minnehaha Park around 8 p.m. Thursday night, according to a Minneapolis Park Police spokeswoman.

According to Park police, before the storm moved through, five people were fishing above a culvert where the Minnehaha Creek meets the Mississippi River.

The fast, heavy rain caused the water levels to rise quickly. While two people were able to get to safety, three fishermen became trapped in the drain. They had to cling to the bars of the drain gate to avoid getting washed away.

Firefighters were able to get a rope around the trapped people and get them out of the water.

No one was injured.
