Orionids meteor shower to peak Wednesday night

MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - Our recent stretch of good weather will once again conveniently open a window of opportunity for stargazers across the Upper Midwest. This Wednesday night into Thursday morning will be the peak of the Orionids meteor shower. Remember Halley's Comet? Every year in late October through early November, the Earth passes through a tail of debris from the famous comet and as a result a meteor shower is born. These shooting stars are known for being quick and bright , so look quick. 

The best spot to look will be in the southeastern sky towards the constellation Orion, hence the name.

This year one can expect to see about one to two dozen meteors per hour.
