The survey is finally in and we now have a better idea of the strength of the tornadoes that touched down Monday in Central Minnesota. According to the National Weather Service Twin Cities, the two areas with the most damage, Litchfield and Watkins, were hit by an EF-2 tornado.

Tornadoes are ranked on a scale of 0 to 5 according to wind speed and damage potential.

The tornadoes in central Minnesota on Monday contained winds of 115 to 125 mph and stayed on the ground for several miles at times.

Although EF-2 is at the top of the bottom half of this scale, winds were strong enough to cause considerable damage to property.
