Vikings cornerback Mike Hughes out with torn ACL

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer confirmed fans' fears in a press conference Monday, announcing rookie cornerback Mike Hughes will be out the rest of the season due to a torn ACL.

Hughes went down with the injury in the fourth quarter during the Vikings' win over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday.

Zimmer says he feels for the rookie.

"Because he was learning and continuing to learn and he's got a lot of great attributes," said Zimmer. "I think toughness and his skill set is really good, but he's going to come back and he's going to be great."

"He's a good guy, good person...comes to work every day, takes the coaching from the coaches, listens to the vets when they have input and does everything for the most part that you ask of him," said George Iloka, Vikings safety. "Good guy, good locker room guy. You definitely feel for him."

The Vikings next play the New York Jets.
