New shades of gray took center stage as Minnesota United unveiled their 2018 kit at Mall of America Sunday afternoon.

The Loons’ new jerseys have vertical dark and light gray stripes and feature a Target logo for the second straight season. But the most interesting part of the jersey is a red button—symbolic of a loon’s eye looking out from the new tops.

The Loons have a vision for more in 2018 and have been working to be this this year’s team to watch in MLS.

“For me, it’s making the playoffs,” midfielder Ethan Finlay said. “This team is more than capable of it. I think we expect it.”

Minnesota United returns a majority of the roster in 2018 and are hoping to build on the inaugural season with a team that is much more familiar in their second stint in MLS.

“If somebody would’ve said after five or six games last year that we would win 10 games and finish above the (Los Angeles) Galaxy, people would’ve said ‘you’re mad’,” head coach Adrian Heath said. “I thought that showed you the progress that we made. We just have to keep improving.”

Minnesota United will start the 2018 regular season on March 3rd at San Jose before the Loons host Chicago in Minnesota’s home opener on March 17th.
