Kelcey Carlson's rotten egg smell mystery
(KMSP) - Well, after weeks of fearing that rotten egg smell in our house might be a gas leak we discovered last night it was actually...a rotten egg. We had CenterPoint Energy out testing the levels. We blamed the dog and had the carpets cleaned twice!
We thought maybe an animal crawled in some nook and died. And then last night the boys were playing a jelly bean game with delicious flavors like dog food, lawn clippings, skunk smell and rotten egg. And then it dawned on me!
Months ago Charlie found an egg in a nearby field and wanted to know what kind it was. He put it in his sock to keep it warm and, bless him, he thought it would hatch and we would name it Talon. We took it to the Lowry Nature Center to have it checked out and then we forgot about it.
Last night I found it in a drawer right next to the fireplace in the living room, stinking to high heaven. I'm not sure which smell is going to be harder to get rid of, this one or the time my husband put leftover spaghetti in the microwave for 20 minutes.
I made the boys smell it this morning and I told them they were lucky I didn't put it under their pillows. Please tell me I'm not the only person this has happened to.
