Hundreds rally in response to Castile shooting

Hundreds of people gathered in Loring Park Saturday afternoon for a rally and march of solidarity in response to the Philando Castile shooting.

Hundreds of people gathered in Loring Park Saturday afternoon to protest the shooting of Philando Castile.

People carried signs saying "We Stand Together" "Shame" and "Justice for Philando." People also had signs referencing the shooting of the Dallas Police officers.

After a rally, people marched in the streets of the surrounding area.

Castile was fatally shot by a St. Anthony Police officer during a traffic stop in Falcon Heights on Wednesday evening. Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Lavish Reynolds streamed the aftermath of the shooting on Facebook Live. In the graphic video, she said Castile told the officer he had a weapon, but had a permit to carry. She said he was shot after the officer told him to get out his I.D.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension identified Jeronimo Yanez as the officer who fatally shot Castile. Yanez's lawyer told Fox 9 that the the broken tail light was not the only reason for the traffic stop
