First vegan butcher shop in U.S. opens in Minneapolis

Meatless and butcher are two words that don’t usually go together. Now they do. The first vegan butcher shop in the country opened in Minneapolis Saturday to long lines of eager customers.

The Herbivorous Butcher was founded by brother and sister dup Aubry and Kale Walch. Prior to opening a brick and mortar shop, the two had been selling their products at the Minneapolis farmers market.

The shop sells meatless meat and dairy-free cheeses, all made from plant-based materials.

The Herbivorous Butcher is located at 507 1st Avenue NE in northeast Minneapolis.
