MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) - A death investigation is underway at the University of Minnesota's Mechanical Engineering building, according to a U of M media official Tuesday night.
Representatives from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that 74-year-old mechanical engineering Professor Barney Klemecki died from what appears to be natural causes around 6:10 p.m. Tuesday night.
Klemecki's university profile says he received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1973, specializing in three subject areas:
- Signal analysis
- Magnetic treatment of manufactured parts
- Polymeric materials
There is no threat to campus at this time, according to Evan Lapiska, the U of M Public Relations Director.
