Arizona Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald funds classroom projects at Minneapolis schools

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver and Minnesota native Larry Fitzgerald funded all of the classroom projects for Minneapolis teachers on the education-oriented crowd funding website DonorsChoose.org Thursday.

Fitzgerald helped fund Minneapolis teachers' requests for books, science supplies, field trips and more for their classrooms.

His donations were part of the #BestSchoolDay campaign, where nearly 60 celebrities, business leaders and athletes committed more than $14 million to fund nearly 12,000 projects across the country all in one day.

The donors are also challenging the public to join them in supporting public school teachers and students nationwide.

Teachers at more than two-thirds of the public schools in the United States have used DonorsChoose.org to make project requests, according to the website. Since 2000, more than two million people have donated more than $400 million to fund those projects.
