Dalai Lama to speak in front of audience in Rochester, Minn.

The Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota announced plans for the Dalai Lama to speak in front of a private audience on Wednesday in Rochester, Minn., where he’s currently undergoing a medical evaluation at the Mayo Clinic.

The 80-year-old Tibetan Buddhist leader has been in Rochester since last week for what his representatives have called a routine checkup. His public U.S. appearances for October were canceled after Mayo doctors advised him to rest.

His Washington representative, Kaydor Aukatsang, said aside from Wednesday’s event the Dalai Lama is resting and has no public events scheduled, the Associated Press reports.

According to a press release from the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota, the event will take place at 9 a.m. on September 30 at the Mayo Clinic Center venue.
