12-year-old girl injured in attempted robbery while waiting for school bus

A 12-year-old girl was injured during an attempted robbery while waiting at a school bus stop in Minneapolis Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. near the intersection of 12th Avenue and 22nd Street in the Phillips Neighborhood. A boy around the same age approached the victim with a knife and demanded she give him her cell phone, according to Sgt. Catherine Michal. The victim fought back and was able to keep her phone, but she received a cut on her forearm from the knife.

No one is in custody. The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
