Minnesota, Wisconsin schools closed Tuesday due to extreme cold

With extreme cold expected on Tuesday morning, many school districts in Minnesota and western Wisconsin have decided to cancel or delay classes for Tuesday.

Across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, temperatures are slated to drop to the coldest temps this winter.

An extreme cold warning is in effect for the entire region until noon on Tuesday.

For the region, air temperatures will fall to 15 to 20 degrees below zero overnight while windchill temps will be in the 30 to 50 degrees below zero range.

School closures due to cold

In the Twin Cities metro, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Anoka-Hennepin have announced they will be closed on Tuesday due to the cold.

Dozens of others across Minnesota and western Wisconsin have also notified FOX 9 they will close, start late, or holding classes virtually.
