Minnesota weather: A much warmer and fairly cloudy Wednesday

Wednesday brings cloudy skies, but warmer weather as temperatures climb into the upper 20s in the Twin Cities metro.

Wednesday’s forecast in Minnesota 

What to expect:

After a stretch of bitter cold, temperatures will be more seasonable on Wednesday. The Twin Cities metro is expected to reach a high of around 28 degrees, while northern regions will remain cooler in the teens and single digits.  

The day will be fairly gray and cloudy, with some patchy sunshine possible during the afternoon. A stray flurry or snowflake may appear in the metro and parts of northern Minnesota. 

By the evening, winds will shift from the southwest to northwest, causing temperatures to quickly fall. Overnight lows in the metro will dip to around 2 degrees below zero.

Cold Thursday then warmer temperatures

What's next:

On Thursday, the region will tap into arctic air again, resulting in a chilly but sunny day with temperatures in the lower teens. 

A warming trend returns on Friday, with temperatures returning closer to seasonable through the weekend. 

On Friday, winds will switch out of the south, bringing highs back into the 20s by the afternoon. The day will be fairly cloudy with light snow possible in parts of northern Minnesota. 

The weekend looks mild, though Saturday is expected to be windy. Temperatures will continue warming into early next week, with highs reaching into the 30s.
