Rain overnight and Thursday morning dropped another inch or more on much of the Twin Cities metro and Greater Minnesota. 

The National Weather Service has confirmed three tornadoes struck the city of Sioux Falls, South Dakota overnight, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. 

Severe weather, including a possible tornado, struck South Dakota leaving a trail of damaged buildings, powerlines and trees. 

Heavy rains the in the Twin Cities metro overnight brought a fast 0.5-1.5 inches of rain before sunrise. 

It will feel more like summer Tuesday with a bright and humid afternoon and a high around 80 degrees--our first 80-degree day in three weeks. The last 80-degree was back on Aug. 20. 

There is a slight risk of severe weather across the southern half of the Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro, for the later part of the day Monday. 

The calendar may now read Fall - though it doesn’t officially begin until the 23rd - but that doesn’t mean our warmth for the year is behind us.  While the extreme heat is likely behind us, with 90 degrees getting increasingly harder and harder to achieve, there is likely still plenty of warmth left though before our “true” cool weather begins.
