After roughly 1-3 inches of snow for most of us on Monday, we'll do roughly the same thing over the next 24 hours into Wednesday morning. Off/on light snow with evolving slippery spots as we tease a thaw Tuesday maybe even a touch of drizzle (or snizzle!?) Tuesday evening.

Light snow will fall on Tuesday, with areas picking up an additional 1-2 inches of snow. Unlike Monday though, the snow won't be as heavy so it'll take longer to accumulate.

Below-average temperatures stay with us for at least the next 7 days. Highs remain in the upper 20s and lower 30s for Sunday with a partly cloudy sky. Our next chance of precipitation arrives by Monday and lingers into Tuesday. Light snow showers may cause some slick roads for the morning and evening commutes to start off the upcoming work week. Temperatures continue to fall throughout the week with highs in the teens by next weekend.

Weekend weather: 'Finter' is here and so is artic air

A high pressure system should create quiet weather conditions through the middle of the week. It will bring on-and-off chances of light snow, with the possibility of light accumulation. Fall to winter, or "finter" is here, with temps expected to only rise to the low 30s Saturday-Monday, with a cold front on Thursday expected to bring colder air.

A few scattered flakes left over in northern Minnesota, with a flake or two possible in the Twin Cities -- but it won't accumulate in the metro. Cloud clover will also linger. It'll be cold this weekend, too, but with less wind.

Wednesday's forecast: Rainy and warm

Wednesday will be warm and wet with scattered showers and thunder with highs in the 60s for the Twin Cities metro. Temps hold steady in the 60s tonight and Thursday morning, before crashing into the 40s and 30s as the showers continue on Thursday.

Sunday will be extremely windy, with gusts reaching over 45 mph. A Red Flag Warning has been issued due to extreme wildfire risk in Central and Southern Minnesota from low humidity, high winds and drought conditions.

The end of October will remain dry with above-average temperatures, but another warmup is coming for the start of November before heading back to seasonable weather.
