The St. Croix River rose more than 6 feet over the weekend, and in Stillwater water is starting to creep into nearby parks and restaurant patios. The city spent weeks preparing for major flooding, constructing a 2,000-foot floodwall along the river and placing tens of thousands of sandbags. Residents hope the temporary berm will prevent the rising river from going into town.

The Stillwater Police Department held a news conference Saturday night to update the public on a police shooting. Authorities said at about 2:20 p.m. authorities received multiple calls of shots fired, with the suspect firing many rounds inside and outside the Curve Crest Villas apartment complex. When police arrived, they returned fire and the suspect was killed. Two or three other people were injured in the incident, believed to have been injured by the suspect.
