A virtual community briefing was held to address recent ICE activity in Minneapolis and developments in the case of 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, who was detained by ICE and returned to Minnesota after a judge’s order. Those in attendance include Councilmember Aurin Chowdhury, Rep. Erin Koegel, Rep. Samantha Sencer-Mura, Sen. Doron Clark, and Mary Granlund, Columbia Heights School Board.

The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association is seeking a new legal agreement to enhance collaboration between county jails and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. If approved, this deal would allow county jails to detain inmates for up to 48 additional hours to comply with ICE detainers, even without judicial warrants. FOX 9’s Bill Keller reports.
