Vice President JD Vance spoke with reporters before leaving Minnesota on Wednesday. He met with victims and families of the Annunciation Catholic Church mass shooting, calling it a "sad" but "rewarding" experience. He also took questions about Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's plans to call a special session to address gun reform.

Vice President JD Vance left Annunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday afternoon as protesters stood outside demanding gun reform. The vice president was in Minneapolis to pay respects to victims and those impacted by the mass shooting.

A week after the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School, Vice President JD Vance and his wife traveled to Minneapolis to pay their respects and meet with those impacted by the shooting.

Kacie Sharpe, whose son was sitting near Fletcher Merkel when he was fatally shot while attending mass at the Annunciation Catholic Church, stood outside the building on Wednesday during Vice President JD Vance's visit. She said, ?We do not need these weapons to protect ourselves. We do not need these weapons to hunt. We do not need them. They're for the military. ?. This is not OK. ?. This is a political problem. Something has to be done. My son lost his best friend in the world because these politicians won't do anything." Sharpe said they feel ?hopeless? that something will be done to prevent similar shootings in the future. ?We need something to be done.? Sharpe said an armed guard or armed teachers would not have prevented the Annunciation shooting from happening. She added her son misses his best friend and Fletcher was a great child.

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance visited Annunciation Church to pay their respect to the victims.

Jesse Merkel, the father of Fletcher Merkel, called into Falen's radio show on KDWB on Tuesday. Jesse said one of Fletcher's favorite moments was when he got to be on the radio with Falen and Colt.

Vice President JD Vance and his wife are visiting Minneapolis on Wednesday in the wake of the Annunciation mass shooting. The church is also holding a blood drive on Wednesday, which marks a week since two children were killed and more than a dozen others were injured.
