Chrysler recalls nearly 240K Ram 1500 trucks for rearview camera problem

Chrysler is recalling nearly a quarter-million Ram 1500 pickup trucks because of a potential problem with their rearview camera system.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the recall involves approximately 239,131 Ram 1500 pickup trucks from model years 2025 and 2026. The agency says the rearview camera system may not display the camera's output when the driver shifts the truck into reverse.
What we know:
The NHTSA says radio software may prevent the rearview image from displaying, increasing the risk of a crash when the driver is backing up.
The issue first appeared between Oct. 6, 2023, when the first 2025 model year Ram 1500 was produced, and Feb. 23, 2026, when the final 2026 model year Ram 1500 was produced.
The agency said similar vehicles that were not included in the recall were built after that timeframe or were built with a different radio and/or camera.
What you can do:
Chrysler is conducting a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to update the radio software. The NHTSA says Chrysler’s parent company, FCA US, LLC, will begin notifying owners of affected vehicles starting Thursday.
In the meantime, owners can visit the Chrysler website and enter their vehicle identification number to see if their vehicle is included in the recall.
