Two killed in crash on Highway 169 in Elk River

ELK RIVER, Minn. (FOX 9) - A crash in Elk River, Minnesota on Highway 169 left two people dead Sunday evening, according to Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on southbound 169 near 221st Avenue NW. A Ford pick-up truck was heading southbound in the left lane while a Chrysler Pacifica was trying to cross westbound. The Chrysler pulled out in front of the pick-up truck and was hit.
The force of the crash caused both vehicles to go off the road and onto the west side of 169.
Both people inside the Chrysler, a 77-year-old Elk River man and a 68-year-old Elk River woman, passed away. The driver of the pick-up suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.
