TOP TEACHER: Paul Kendrick of Forest Lake Area Senior High School

Fox 9 is honoring another Top Teacher as the school year comes to a close.

Paul Kendrick has worked at Forest Lake Area Senior High School for 25 years as a health teacher and most recently started teaching Emergency Medical Responder and Emergency Medical Technician classes.

Over the past four years, his EMT students have consistently scored 92 percent on the National Registry of EMT's written exam. He also mentors students for state EMR competitions. His students go on to teach CPR training to others and some even go on to work professionally in the medical field.

Joe Graff, a co-worker, nominated Kendrick for the honor calling him "an exceptional human being," who continually pushes students to achieve more than they ever imagined.

"He expects them to go beyond their perceived abilities and encourages them to reach out to others less fortunate," wrote Graff. "He stresses the following, 'It is not about you – It is not about me; It is about the patient!'"

As a Fox 9 Top Teacher, Kendrick will receive $900 from Royal Credit Union for classroom supplies, a Subway sandwich party for 50 friends and a Top Teacher award.
