Students injured in school bus crash near Bemidji, Minn.
BEMIDJI, Minn. (KMSP) - Several students were injured after a school bus tipped over in Bemidji, Minnesota, Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. The Beltrami County sheriff’s office said the bus was traveling southbound on Irvine Avenue when it was struck by a car that ran the stop sign at the intersection of South Movil Lake Road and Irvine Avenue. The school bus lost control and rolled onto its side in the ditch.
One child was pinned inside the bus and had to be extricated by rescue crews.
Five students were transported to Sanford Health for evaluation. One student was airlifted from the scene. Hess said the other students aboard the bus suffered bumps and bruises.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the bus is also in serious condition at Sanford Hospital.
