Fan favorite fried chicken spot Revival abruptly closes Twin Cities locations
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - There's a surprise in the Twin Cities dining scene as a local favorite spot suddenly closes its doors.
Revival surprise closure
What we know:
What started as an offshoot of their fine dining restaurant Corner Table back in 2015 by Chef Thomas Boemer and co-owner Nick Rancone, quickly became known as one of the hottest tables in town, known for its Tennessee hot fried chicken, burger and later smoked meats.
But after an almost 10-year run, Revival's owners announced on social media it is permanently closed, affecting all four of its locations in Minneapolis, St Louis Park, St Paul and the Market at Malcolm yards, leaving 100 employees out of work.

"It's an emotional day. There's always a risk of something like this when you own your own business. But it's not a reality you want to face," said Rancone.
Saying goodbye
The backstory:
The move comes just weeks after Revival's St. Paul location revamped its concept, offering Chicago-style pizza and Italian beef sandwiches.
But Rancone says a hard look at their finances led to them calling it quits to make sure their vendors and staff got paid.
"It was definitely abrupt, unfortunately, and it was pretty simple. Escalating costs. Declining revenues. It's just kind of an unsustainable way to move forward," said Rancone.
Nearly a decade of fried chicken and more
Dig deeper:
Revival helped kick off the hot chicken boom in the Twin Cities. At its peak, there were lines down the block and hours-long waits. Boemer was a semifinalist for the James Beard Award's Best Chef Midwest for several years.
"Sadness. It was really a good thing for our neighborhood, especially for us. It brought in customers definitely to our store," said Tim McFadden, who works across the street at Roadrunner Records.
